Paul Asher is a journalist with his share of issues. Recently returned from Afghanistan he is trying to deal with his experiences there while trying to salvage his crumbling marriage. To further complicate his life his next assignment is an interview with a man claiming to be God (played by David Strathairn). “God” has asked Paul to interview him in 3 30-minute interviews over the course of 3 days.
Not knowing what to expect, Paul meets him in the park on the first day and finds a God that is poignant and optimistic. Open and honest, yet cryptic. It soons becomes apparent that Paul will eventually learn more about himself than God.
Where the movie begin and ends is fairly predictable but there are enough twists, turns, and surprises coupled with affable portrayals to make the ride enjoyable. This movie was released into a limited number of theaters in late summer of 2018 with no advertising but was notable because word of mouth caused the box office to increase about 30% each day of its limited run.
The movie is currently out on Netflix and if you are looking for something that won’t challenge you mentally while killing 100 minutes of your time, you won’t go wrong with this.
